Sonali Manavalan

I am Sonali Manavalan, (@manavalanandco) a textile artist from Madras, India. Having done my bachelor’s in fine arts (Stella Maris, Chennai) and my master’s in design in Textiles (NID, Ahmedabad), I love to merge both my disciplines together and stretch my boundaries. I create both works of Fine Art (acrylic, water, mixed media) as well as digital pieces. I use surface development techniques like embroidery to further enhance my creations.

My work is heavily inspired and drawn from nature, and we can never have enough of it. It is the easiest form to be inspired by and the one that brings me most joy when I sit down to create. Be it on land or under water, I’m fascinated by all forms, shapes, colors and textures.

Apart from painting, I specialize in prints and have collaborated with home furnishing companies, clothing and textile companies as well as printing houses to create one of a kind printworks for wedding, announcements etc.
